The New York-based Human Rights in China has urged Huang’s immediate release while accusing the Chinese government of cracking down on dissent ahead of the Beijing Olympics in August.
"With less than 60 days left before the opening of the Olympic Games, the Chinese authorities’ ongoing crackdown on rights defenders and activists further undermines their image and the official goal of building a harmonious society," the group said in a statement.
