Ai Xiaoming: Reflections on My Hunger Strike

May 4, 2016

Ai Xiaoming, retired professor of Sun Yat-sen University and scholar of women's and public issues, went on a voluntary hunger strike for 24 hours to urge for the humane treatment of Guo Feixiong in detention, and also to support Yu Shiwen’s calls for justice, who was her Sun Yat-sen classmate. She says that although a person going on a 24-hour hunger strike is no great accomplishment, it is important for us all to express individual political attitudes and principles of right and wrong. She wants, together with her fellow citizens, to fight for rights and freedoms, so that they may raise a flag of freedom over this land.
