A Description of Zhao Changqing’s Court Hearing

A little more than two hours into his trial at the Haidian District Court in Beijing today, veteran activist Zhao Changqing dismissed his two defense lawyers on the ground that serious procedural violations by the prosecution and the court have made it impossible for him to have a fair trial and for his lawyers to mount an effective defense. The court adjourned the trial. In this account, the lawyers, Zhang Xuezhong and Lin Qilei, outline what they consider to be the four key procedural problems of the case.
