Lawyer Li Fangping's Weixin Post about Lawyer Wang Yu Being Taken Away by Police

July 9, 2015

“At approximately 4:00 a.m. on July 9, 2015, between 20 and 30 police officers surrounded the home of lawyer Wang Yu and took her away on account of ‘drug addiction.’ It is unclear which police station they were from. An officer at the Laiguangying police substation didn’t respond to an inquirer’s questions regarding Wang’s whereabouts but, instead, questioned the inquirer’s relationship with Wang Yu, citing a 24-hour waiting time. From the officer’s attitude and expression, the inquirer believes Wang is still at the police substation. In addition, outside the police substation were two cars that looked like state security vehicles. Throughout the time the officer was speaking with the inquirer, she kept looking at another officer next to her.” [Translation by Human Rights in China]
