Human rights defender Su Changlan, of Foshan, Guangdong, has been in detention since 2014 and is still waiting for a verdict on her April 2016 trial for “inciting subversion of state power.”
She recently told her lawyer that she had been disciplined in detention because she had used pure water with salt to clean the eczema sores on her hands, feet, and body. She said the authorities forbade her from doing this, and that they had reprimanded her and told her that the matter would be sent to the trial court, in writing, to be considered in the sentencing of her case. The detention center also stopped providing her hot drinking water, and from late November had cancelled her daily morning and afternoon hour of outdoor exercise. In order to protest the long delay in her sentencing and this judicial persecution, Su Changlan decided to go on weekly one-to-two-day hunger strikes.

苏昌兰煽颠罪案消息：12.8上午律师会见了苏昌兰。对于近况，苏说到：
10.18日，苏昌兰从医院出来后，取用在风场的纯净水（没有热水，在押人员饮用的水）加点盐来洗手脚和身上的湿疹溃烂处，被管教看见，当场被管教禁止和教训。第二天管教来到监仓开会，宣布要将此事向看守所领导反应，由看守所向审判法院书面反应，作为苏昌兰案件量刑的参考。（十一月会见时没来得及说此事）
南海看守所的在押人员好可怜，好惨！仲惨过黑衣（乞丐）。看守所不给热水，只有喝冻水（冷水）。由于苏昌兰身体不好，怕冷，不能喝冷水，所以她就用塑料水瓶或者牛奶纸盒在接水，晚上放在被窝里暖暖，用来第二天早上喝。
11月下旬开始，看守所要求打坐，就取消了每天上下午各一个小时的放风时间（墙上监规写的清清楚楚，但就是不给了）。
为抗议案件久拖不判和司法迫害，苏昌兰决定进行定期绝食。

我从2005年起多次举报和控告南海区政府某些腐败官员违反国家土地管理法规，预征南海三山村民近万亩土地的违法行径。2014.10.27日我被南海桂城街道派出所以煽颠颠覆国家政权罪的名义拘捕，关押在南海看守所。佛山中院在4.21日开庭审理后，又在5.12，8.12，11.12三次延长审理期限。其实我的案件事实非常清楚，一点也不复杂，但我被关押已经超过了两年。为抗议司法机关的故意久拖不判，和对我的打压迫害，我决定在2016.11.12日（第三次延期之日）开始的周六或者周日，每周绝食一天或者两天。我会坚持下去，一直到一审判决出来！（注：我已经在11月12日，13日，19日，26日，12月3日进行了绝食）
