SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER [Hong Kong]

Human Rights in China, a leading NGO dedicated to promoting and advancing human rights in China, is seeking a highly qualified bilingual (Chinese and English) professional to fill the position of HK Senior Program Officer, based in Hong Kong. This is a fulltime position with benefits.

Responsibilities: The HK Senior Program Officer will report directly to the Executive Director. As part of the program team, his/her responsibilities include: supervision of HK staff and interns, program coordination with NY staff on advocacy, media work, and research and publication projects. In coordination with the NY office, the Senior Program Officer will also be responsible for outreach and networking with diverse constituencies, including government, media, NGO, and academic communities.
Qualifications:
- Native Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) fluency and excellent written and spoken English.
- Postgraduate degree in law, China studies, international affairs, or other relevant field.
- At least 3-5 years of demonstrated NGO advocacy program management and oversight.
- Demonstrated strategic program planning in one or more of the following areas: international human rights, China exchange programs, or information and communication technology.
- Knowledge of mainland China; a strong interest in Chinese law, policy, and society.
- Familiarity with applicable international human rights law and processes and experience representing an NGO in both an advocacy and media liaison role with governments, civil society, the media, and UN bodies.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills.

A fellowship for graduates of NYU Law School to devote a year to full-time human rights work. The Fellow will work closely with HRIC lawyers and advocacy staff and contribute to HRIC’s interrelated advocacy, casework, research, and outreach.
