Human Rights in China (HRIC), a leading international Chinese human rights NGO with offices in Hong Kong, New York, and Brussels, is seeking a committed, energetic, detail-oriented professional to fill the position of Grants Manager in our New York office.
About HRIC
HRIC was founded by Chinese students and scholars in March 1989. Its mission is to promote international human rights and advance the institutional protection of these rights in the People's Republic of China.
HRIC's approach is a long-term process of engaging multiple international actors, including the media, governments, corporations, various United Nations bodies, and other multilateral organizations. HRIC also aims to maximize and leverage its resources by collaborating with other local, regional, and international NGOs.

Responsibilities
The Grants Manager will be responsible for securing and managing grants from foundations and other donors for HRIC's programs. S/he will cultivate, solicit, and responsibly steward grants from new and existing donors.
This position will include managing specific development tasks including proposals and reports, identifying prospective donors, cultivating relationships with donors on behalf of HRIC, maintaining HRIC's tracking systems as well as electronic and paper donor files, and providing administrative support for the development team.
Qualifications
The candidate must be committed to HRIC's mission and interested in working in a high-energy, collaborative NGO that insists on the highest professional and public-interest standards. S/he must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate must be a self-starter who is well-organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently and collaboratively, and comfortable handling multiple tasks.
- Grants Management:The ideal candidate will have:
- At least two years of professional experience managing grants at a non-profit organization;
- Experience developing and producing reports, publications, and marketing materials;
- Familiarity with a fundraising database.
- Prospects: The candidate will have experience:
- Identifying and researching prospective funding sources;
- Preparing research briefings.
- Language: Chinese language ability a plus.
Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience.
