The Global Network Initiative (GNI) is a collaborative initiative to protect and advance freedom of expression and privacy in the information and communications technology sector. Launched in the 60th anniversary year of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (2008), GNI is founded by a multi-stakeholder group of companies, investors, academics, and civil society organizations, including HRIC and other human rights and press freedom groups. HRIC regularly participates in meetings and briefings of the GNI.
