Miranda made history as a member of the first women's U.S. Olympic wrestling team at the Athens Games. Following her career at Stanford, Miranda, a bronze medalist in Athens, headed east to pursue a law degree at Yale.

It was then she joined the New York-based Human Rights In China to help keep track of the promises Beijing made to the International Olympic Committee to get the bid for the Olympic Games. Miranda started reading and discovered stories of residents in China being forced from their homes as the Olympic venues were built and being left with no recourse under the country's Communist government.
