"...In a statement yesterday, New York-based Human Rights in China cited petitioners who said they were beaten, prodded with electric wands and held in a stadium before being shipped out of Beijing. The group said police from the northeastern city of Benxi drugged the food they offered detainees before loading them into police wagons and taking them to detention centers back in their provinces...

...Human Rights in China said some 36,000 people have been removed from the capital since the start of the campaign, though people who have witnessed the crackdown say it is impossible to gauge whether the number is that high..."
