[Demonstrations – Shanghai] On August 3, 2011, citizens of Maqiao Township, Minhang District, Shanghai, went for the thirteenth time to the Social Order Department of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau to apply for permission to hold a demonstration, requesting that the Public Security Bureau permit 300 villagers from 8 villages to hold a demonstration on August 8, 2011. The purpose of the demonstration is to request all levels of the Shanghai government to investigate the illegal requisition of 13,000 acres of farmland belonging to the applicants, and bring to justice those responsible.
