Asset Transparency Advocate Calls for Help

The author of this appeal, Yan Bojun, has participated in many citizen actions calling for disclosure of official assets since the second half of 2012. As a result of the authorities’ widening crackdown on advocates of asset transparency and citizen activism, most of his friends have been administratively, criminally, or illegally detained, including Xu Zhiyong, Ding Jiaxi, and Wang Yonghong. Yan was forced to flee Beijing to avoid being caught and his life has since become very difficult: he is unable to use his identity card, his bank account has been blocked by the authorities, he cannot look for work, and he has no source of income. He calls on friends to continue paying close attention to illegally detained activists, and also asks for financial assistance.
