Guo Feixiong’s Lawyers File Criminal Complaint against Directors of Public Security Bureau and Detention Center

October 14, 2013

Sui Muqing and Lin Qilei, the lawyers of detained activist Guo Feixiong (pen name of Yang Maodong), filed a complaint with the Tianhe Procuratorate (天河区检察院) in Guangzhou, against the Directors of the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Tianhe District Detention Center. The complaint alleges that the two officials abused their public authority to repeatedly reject the lawyers’ requests to meet with their client, and have kept their client in detention beyond the legal limit. The lawyers say that the defendants’ actions constitute the following crimes: abuse of power and position, use of authority to obstruct a citizen’s personal rights, and use of public office to undermine state law enforcement.
