Lawyer Shu Xiangxin Violently Beaten in Jinan No. 2 Detention Center

Lawyer Cai Ying reports that his client, rights defense lawyer Shu Xiangxin, in custody in the Jinan No.2 Detention Center for “libel,” was violently beaten and also suffered from other forms of maltreatment including being handcuffed and deprived of food, water, and access to toilet.

舒向新被打了，张姓管教干部打的，有伤，打得很厉害。打的原因就是找岔，强迫舒向新劳动干活。打了五十多拳，从早晨8:30到15:50分一直扣着，只能一脚着地，饿饭，禁水，不让拉屎拉尿，穿得很单薄。管教干部一直铐着舒律师，首先看守所里外欺骗说在提审，律师说前台没有提审记录，后来又说管教干部在谈话，不能会见。律师找看守所领导交涉，终于在三点五十左右见到舒律师，发现右眼下面伤痕明显。辩护律师现在济南市第二看守所，正在驻所检察室投诉控告，现检察室范检等两人去里面看伤了。
