Video: Rights Defender Xu Lin Recounts Being Threatened by Police During 8-Hour Interrogation

In this short video, Xu Lin, a writer, poet, songwriter, and structural engineer, describes being taken in for questioning on December 17. He says that the Guangzhou police intercepted him when he was taking his kid to school that morning, and accused him of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” in connection with posts he circulated online, including “software for overthrowing the Communist Party,” as well as songs he wrote. Xu reports that the police threatened to break his legs, and to make trouble for him every time he posts something online, until he dies. The police also cracked the password on his cellphone.
