The New York Times: Bright Lights That Mask the Darkness

It is why some New Yorkers protested this honor in lights. They included two groups, Human Rights Watch and Human Rights in China, that have offices in the Empire State Building.

“This anniversary has been accompanied by massive human rights abuses coupled with tightened government controls choking off possible dissent,” said Sharon K. Hom, executive director of Human Rights in China.
