Mr Chen was jailed for more than four years after helping villagers resist forced abortions, rights groups, including the New York-based Human Rights in China, say. After his release in September 2010, he and his wife were confined to their home in the village of Dongshigu. He has urged Chinese leaders to tackle corruption in his home province of Shandong.
