Chinese lawyers Initiate 24-hour Fast Relay to Defend Lawyers’ Rights

To protest the recent spate of attacks on Chinese lawyers—in the forms of beating, detention, refusal to let them meet with clients, and disqualifying them from practice—a group of Chinese lawyers, including Liu Weiguo and Zhang Keke, initiated a 24-hour fast relay and called for the participation of 100 lawyers. Called “Blessings for Chinese Lawyers: One Hundred Lawyers Fast and Pray for Hundred Days,” the campaign also urges participants to discuss the legal profession in China and the rule of law. 【无需他人见证 只为良知坚守】“为中国律师祈福-百名律师百日禁食祈祷”活动，诚邀各位律师的参与。无论我们是否愿意面对，中国律师都被逼站到了时代的风口浪尖；都被逼成为了苦难民众心目中最后一颗可以寄托的稻草。中国律师也因此成为某些践法者的绊脚石、眼中刺。建三江四律师断骨之商未愈；郑州常、姬二人几十律师会见不成；武汉科科被司法局剥夺职业权利。我们既为律师职业痛心，又为中国法治疾首！为此，特邀请100名律师参与百日禁食接力“为律师祈福”活动：

1. 参与场所不限，参与方式为上午9时起24小时禁止饮食（不禁水），无需他人监督，只为良知守信。禁食期间亦不停止其他工作活动的进行。
2. 本次活动为律师内部自我反思，参与人员仅限执业律师，亦包括被非法剥夺执业资格的“律师后”。其他公民及社会贤达发起的陪同活动为另行自发，恕不统计在律师活动内。
3. 活动参与者除禁食期间停止饮食外，还可针对禁食感受、律师制度走向、当前法治状况进行思考、探讨。

百名律师为律师祈福——百名律师百日禁食祈祷，有十名律师参与即可启动。
