Account of Applying to Attend Trial of Qin Yongmin

This account describes the experience of the writer and other rights defenders from different areas in the country who intended to going to Wuhan to apply to attend the trial of Qin Yongmin. Some activists were intercepted in their local areas, and the others who arrived at the court were surrounded by dozens of officers from a SWAT team, and then taken to a bus to the Hankou Bureau of Letters and Calls. Their mobile phones and IDs were seized during detention and they were were sent back to their respective hometowns.

On July 11, Qin Yongmin, 64, veteran democracy activist, a cofounder of the China Democracy Party and founder of China Human Rights Watch, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for “subversion of state power.”


秦案申请旁听记

10日中午,我和陈国金兄从娄底乘坐G402动车去武汉,准备申请旁听今天上午九点在武汉中院开庭的秦永敏颠覆国家政权案的宣判。由于不希望引起当局的关注,我们此去没有向外界透露任何信息。过了长沙后,列车员开始查票查身份证,我在出示了车票后拒绝出示身份证,并且告知她:你没有这个权力。然后,列车长来了,问我为什么不出示身份证,我把用手机搜索到的关于身份证法的有关规定让他看,其回答说:你不要相信这些东西。我回:如果法律都不相信那我们还能信什么?随即我把这一过程发到了朋友圈,并且得到很多点赞。

一路上我们通过微信群信息了解到,浙江林大刚和安徽朱小平也正在来武汉的路上,并且通过私聊得知前天刚刚参加了荆门许光利案旁听的广西朋友李燕军罗汉生也在赶往武汉。到达后,我们在中院附近找了家小宾馆住了下来。由于五月十日该案庭审时,当局先天晚上在法院周边宾馆半夜抓人,故此次前来申请旁听的朋友不但不敢住到法院附近了,而且连行踪都非常隐蔽,由于相互间缺乏联系,大家都不知道来了多少人,哪些人来了。期间,我曾联系林大刚和朱小平,但对方并无回应,后来才知道,因为太张扬,他们在当地就被拦截了。

11日早上七点不到,我起床后打开窗帘,屋檐下的街道上已停了好几辆特警的巡逻车,街上也遍布着特警和便衣,我心想:不知道等下中院周围将会是怎样的如临大敌?吃过早点,我们和广西李燕军罗汉生相约在地铁D出口相会,我们刚到不久,山西武志刚来了,陈家鸿律师也在电话里说到了C出口,但他刚一露面就被守候在那里的警察逮住带走了。八点半左右,我们来到法院门口,法院大门紧闭,只有临街一个小窗口前聚集了一些人正在排队,我们刚站到队伍后面准备排队,几个警察突然一下把李燕军围住,说:李燕军,跟我们走。把他架住带上了一辆警车。我们继续排队,通过交流才知道,几乎所有排队的人都是从全国各地赶来申请旁听的朋友,除我和陈国金、罗汉生、武志刚外,还有何家维、仇玫红,陈国生、向美荣、唐兆星、任庆洲、阚晓云、张文茂、董敏及一些湖北本地不相识的朋友。窗户捅开以后,距离一下拉近了,于是林家把身份证集合到一起集体申请。听说我们要申请旁听秦永敏案宣判,工作人员说旁听席位已满,不接受我们的申请,我们说没有席位可以站着,我们不远千里而来,还怕站吗?但他们就是不同意。这时现场的警察开始驱赶我们,把我们赶到了信访大厅门口。既然旁听不成,于是大家提议拍个照片以为纪念,这时,突然来了几十个特警,将我们团团围住,然后用一辆大巴车将我们全部带到汉口信访局的大厅里,一人一个特警死死的盯着,并收缴了我们的手机和身份证。在这里我们见到了之前被带走的陈家鸿李燕军。至此,除了仇玫红任庆洲张文茂等几个漏网之鱼之外,来自全国各地前来申请旁听的朋友终于相聚了。

进去约一个小时左右,单位的人来接我了,很显然在我昨天出来之后他们也紧跟着来了,不然坐飞机也不可能这么快。此次外出,我没有透露任何消息,他们何以这么快就跟来了呢?事后一回想,可能是那条和列车长争辩的朋友圈信息透露了行踪,我党的维稳工作真的做得太好了,给一万个赞。

秦永敏,这位东方的曼德拉,已经被关了25年了,这次又是13年,他的刑期加起来已经超过35年了,他已经是这个世界上在狱时间最长的政治犯了,而且他在狱的每一天都在不断刷新这个纪录。他有罪吗?当然有,在独裁者的眼里他是致命的敌人,是必须被毁灭千万遍的,尽管他那样的温和理性,但是不把他关起来他们会睡不着觉。他是黑夜里的显电,他的思想穿透漫漫长夜,穿透专制的胸膛。他曾经二次作为诺贝尔和平奖提名,但即便日后他最终得到了这个奖,这个奖就能够概括他所有的努力和付出吗?有人说他不值,我也这样认为,如果换了我这样懦弱的人早就投降了,但我最佩服这样的人,他是一位殉道者,真正的勇士。

希望秦永敏之后再无秦永敏,也希望永远不要再有政治犯这个词。
